In this talk, Roberta and Joey will share BUas’ journey in virtual production, from setting up one of the first VP stages at a higher education institution in Europe, through our early experiments and student projects, to our current work across research, education, and industry collaboration. We will look at how virtual production connects to the wider digital ecosystem, and the growing role of real-time technologies in creative digital production. We will share insights and findings from our projects, exploring the evolving skill profiles and workflows within virtual production, the growing importance of soft skills and interdisciplinary collaboration, and how education can prepare students for the changing demands of the industry. Finally, we will present opportunities for training, residencies, and collaboration with BUas.
